LARAEC Unanimously Approves Release of 90% of $28 Million
Los Angeles, CA. January 29, 2016 | Just days after CA Superintendent Tom Torlakson's January 26 letter was sent to LARAEC members the regional consortium voted unanimously to approve the release of 90% of the $28 Million non-MOE funds. Finally this money will be released for Adult Education in the Los Angeles region! Thank you to all of you who sent emails and put pressure on all of the parties involved!

Juan Noguera speaks to CA Assembly Budget Sub Committee in Sacramento
On March 24, 2015 Juan Noguera spoke before the CA Assembly Budget Sub Committee calling for the restoration of Adult Education programs to the levels they were before. He states that due to cuts, in Los Angeles alone, enrollment is down from 300,000+ to 98,000 students.

Assemblymember Patty Lopez visits East Valley Skills Center
December 18, 2014 | Sun Valley, CA | Assemblymember Patty Lopez visited with students, faculty and staff of East Valley Skills Center. She took photos with school leaders and Student Council reps who organized a Food Drive in which donations were given to the local community based organization MEND in Pacoima (http://mendpoverty.org). She also attended the annual faculty holiday reception. The Honorable Patty Lopez said the visit was like a homecoming, as she was herself once an Adult Ed student at North Valley Occupational Center.
